What to Know about The Masters

Attending the Masters’ Tournament has been a dream of mine for many years, and that dream finally became real life.

As a golfer myself, I thoroughly enjoy watching and learning from professionals. Here are some tips and tricks I learned from my experience at The Masters.

Know Before You Go

There are people EVERYWHERE! Make sure to pack your patience for this adventure. Also, your ticket has to be seen at all times. This was something I was not aware of. Many people attached it to their bag or shirt buttons, or you can buy a lanyard from the golf shop. I will mention this in more detail later, but phones are not allowed any day at the tournament. Keep reading for in-depth tips and tricks!

First Stop, the Golf Shop

The golf shop has Disney-like lines wrapped around the entrance. This is one place every guest will attend for souvenirs. The Masters gear is unique to the tournament, and it can’t be purchased anywhere outside of the shop. The golf shop is full of Masters souvenirs— even things you wouldn’t expect! Your eyes will be amazed by the sheer amount of merchandise visible. First, you see racks of clothes, then visors and umbrellas, then… the enormous hat wall. People are packed into the store and the lines are full of anxious customers. There are several rooms full of inventory, including one with a giant t-shirt wall.

Food is Surprisingly Affordable

I was prepared to spend over $20 for lunch, but I was positively surprised when I saw the prices. The food stands are grab-and-go style. They have tons of options such as fruit, chips, trail mix, sandwiches, and plenty of beverages.

Cameras and Phones

Phones are not allowed at the course at any time. However, cameras are allowed during the practice rounds. Fortunately, I went on Monday for the practice round and brought a camera to capture the unforgettable moments.

Find Your Seats and Enjoy the View

Augusta National Golf Course is known for the beautiful azalea flowers and green grass. It is truly a beautiful atmosphere, and a course that is maintained to perfection. Finding a comfortable seat with a great view is important.

This tip helped my friends and I have the best Masters experience possible. We sat near Hole 6 green, and we could see the Hole 7 tee box. We sat for hours watching such golfers as Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, John Rahm, Justin Thomas, and many more as they played their way around the course. It was the perfect spot to capture a glimpse of The Masters.
