Adult Lunchables: Lunch On the Go
Many of us are familiar with the classic lunch meal, Lunchables.
With many of us being adults now, there are new ways to elevate the beloved snack to a more nutritious and filling meal. I had seen others take on the pre-packaged lunches and decided to create my own. They were super easy to make and are perfect for busy days on the go. Here’s how you can make your own adult lunchable!
Start With Protein
I tend to fall short in getting enough protein in my meals, but these Lunchables are a perfect way to load up on different kinds of protein. Protein sources like deli meat, chicken salad, peanut butter, hard-boiled eggs, and hummus are great additions to your lunch.
Fill Up on Fruits & Veggies
Another essential ingredient in your adult Lunchable is a variety of fruits and veggies. I’m trying to make a more conscious choice to eat more veggies and snack on foods like cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, carrots, or bell peppers. Fruits like grapes, apples, strawberries, or watermelon are a perfect sweet snack to round out your meal.
Say Cheese!
You can’t forget the cheese. Think of these Lunchables like mini charcuterie boards, pairing your meat, cheese, fruit, and crackers. I like using white cheddar cheese or easy grab-and-go cheese like Babybel or string cheese for my adult Lunchables.
Snack Your Heart Out
With all those ingredients, make sure to throw in some crunch. I like to add crackers, pita chips, nuts, or pretzels. I love using crackers like Triscuits or Wheat Thins. These pair really well with a dip like hummus, tzatziki, peanut butter, or Greek yogurt.
Assembling your Lunchable is super easy. You can store it in regular Tupperware or invest in a container with different sections to keep your snacks in order. Otherwise, if you have time to enjoy at your leisure, plate up a little bit of each of your favorites and enjoy!
Happy snacking and …
