Global Wellness Day

Global Wellness Day is an international event that promotes health and well-being.

This annual event, held on the second Saturday in June, encourages people all over the world to prioritize wellness. In this blog, I’ll share some unique ways to maintain all aspects of wellness while in college!

Mindfulness

Mindfulness encourages each of us to be present and live in the moment. This can be achieved through various practices, including meditation for 5 to 10 minutes daily, engaging with podcasts that inspire introspection, journaling to reflect on thoughts and emotions, compiling gratitude lists to cultivate appreciation, and immersing oneself in the experience of reading a good book. These exercises help us cultivate the mindset of awareness and presence, which helps improve our overall well-being and internal peace.

Physical Activity

Physical activity, such as walking daily, engaging in at least 30 minutes of exercise each day, and incorporating regular standing and stretching into our routines, is essential for enhancing our overall wellness. Maintaining an active lifestyle has many benefits, including improved physical health, mental well-being, sleep quality, and more.

Healthy Eating

Another excellent way to improve your health and wellness is by eating nutritious foods and maintaining a balanced diet. Some ways we can make healthy choices is by cooking healthy recipes at home and drinking warm lemon water in the mornings. Embracing these habits encourages a positive relationship with food and lays the groundwork for a healthier lifestyle.

Sleep

Recognizing how important quality sleep is in overall well-being and productivity is essential. It is critical to prioritize enough rest by going to bed 30 minutes earlier than normal and striving for an average of 8 hours of sleep per night. Establishing appropriate sleep patterns significantly contributes to a balanced and rewarding lifestyle.

Social Connection

Social connection is so important. Simple actions like calling and spending time with a friend or reaching out to family members strengthen these bonds and foster good relationships. By prioritizing these relationships, we can create a supportive network that enriches our lives, boosts resilience, and enhances our overall happiness.

In conclusion, Global Wellness Day is a great reminder of the importance of prioritizing wellness activities in our daily lives. Wellness covers a variety of areas, including physical, mental, and social dimensions of health. Raising awareness is important to work together to create a healthier, happier, and more resilient global environment in which everyone can thrive.

Be well, Auburn.
