No Tricks, Just Treats
Halloween isn’t always about the tricks.
If you’re looking to treat yourself or your friends this year, you’re in the right place. These treats are easy to make, dorm friendly, and sure to bring some holiday spirit into your kitchen. Grab your mixing bowls, and get ready to balance out the Halloween spooks with some sweetness.
Pretzel Ghosts
If these pretzel ghosts aren’t the cutest things you’ve ever seen, I’m not sure what is. To make things even better, it only takes 3 ingredients to make them.
Ingredients:
Yogurt covered pretzels
Candy eyes
White chocolate
Directions:
Place your yogurt covered pretzels on a baking sheet (or any large plate).
Microwave ¼ cup of white chocolate in 30-second intervals until melted. (Optional: add 1 tbsp of coconut oil to help it melt smoothly.)
Use a toothpick to place a generous dot of chocolate on the back of each candy eye before placing them in the top two holes of each pretzel.
Press down lightly to ensure that the eyes are in place. Let dry for 4-6 hours.
Monster Rice Krispies
These monster Rice Krispies are a Halloween twist on a classic treat. Have fun by creating funky faces and using any colors that you wish.
Ingredients:
White chocolate
Candy eyes
Food coloring
Directions:
Take your Rice Krispy treats (recipe above), and cut them into your desired shape.
Cover a baking sheet in parchment paper and set aside.
Microwave 1 cup of white chocolate in 30-second intervals until melted. (Optional: add 1 tbsp of coconut oil to help it melt smoothly.)
Add a few drops of food coloring into the melted chocolate and stir. (Repeat steps 3 & 4 for any other colors you’d like.)
Dip the top part of each Rice Krispy treat into the melted chocolate and lay on parchment paper.
Press candy eyes on top of the chocolate to create a face.
Repeat for all treats and place in the freezer for 4-6 hours to harden.
Reese’s Bat Bites
Bats…not too cute. These? Insanely adorable and incredibly tasty. How did I never think to combine Reese’s and Oreo’s before?
Ingredients:
Mini Reese’s cups
Oreo thins
Milk chocolate
Candy eyes
Directions:
Grab your Oreo thins and cut them in half to create “wings”. (If you’d prefer thinner wings, separate each cookie and discard of the filling before cutting in half.)
Unwrap each mini Reese’s cup and place on a plate or baking sheet.
Microwave ¼ cup of milk chocolate in 30-second intervals until melted. (Optional: add 1 tsp of coconut oil to help it melt smoothly)
Use a toothpick to apply chocolate to the back half of each wing and place on top of the Reese’s cup.
Use another toothpick to apply chocolate to the back of the candy eyes and place them on top of the wings where they touch.
Repeat and let dry for 4-6 hours.
Spider Crawl Cookies
This might be the ONLY spider I ever welcome into my kitchen…
Ingredients:
Mini Reese’s cups
Candy eyes
Milk chocolate
Cookie dough
Directions:
Bake your cookies as instructed.
Unwrap your mini Reese’s and press one Reese’s cup into the center of each cookie once they’re out of the oven.
Melt ½ cup of milk chocolate in 30-second intervals until melted. (Optional: add 1 tbsp of coconut oil to help it melt smoothly.)
Dip ½ of a toothpick into the melted chocolate and use the side of the toothpick to draw lines around the Reese cup as spider “legs.”
Use a clean toothpick to add chocolate to the back of the candy eyes and press onto the side of the Reese cup as a face.
Repeat for all cookies and let cool for 6 hours.

Originally from Nashville, Jordan came down to Auburn to enjoy the beauty of The Plains and to learn the true meaning of War Eagle (which she still does not know). She’s currently a sophomore studying spanish international trade, and has passions ranging from marketing to health and fashion.
Jordan enjoys weightlifting, a good podcast, and will never turn down a hike with her friends. Her favorite way to start the day is with a workout, nutritious breakfast, and cup of iced coffee. She loves living a fast-paced life, and hopes to reside in a big city after her time at Auburn (dogs included). She’s eager for the future, but for now, is enjoying living in the moment.
