Best Spots to Hammock on Campus
Great weather isn’t a daily occurrence in Auburn. So when it is, why not take advantage of it?
One of the ways I’ve been getting outside is hammocking. It’s a great way to clear your mind and take a break from classes whether online or in-person. Here are some of the best places on campus to hammock.
Cater Lawn
Right in the heart of campus, Cater Lawn provides evenly spaced trees and shade from all angles. It’s located right in front of Katherine Cooper Cater Hall and is close to classes and dining options. Many times, I’ve seen ultimate frisbee games or students playing soccer here. This makes it the perfect atmosphere to get work done without it being dreadfully boring. If you recruit some friends, there are many places where you and your friends can hammock close together!
Lower Quad
If you’re looking for the perfect picnic area, the Lower Quad is the location for you. In the center of the four Lower Quad dorms, there are eight trees that meet at the cross of the sidewalk. You can set up your hammock with friends across the way. This area definitely provides a quiet environment to relax and focus on school work.
Samford Lawn
With so many activities on Samford Lawn, you are sure to enjoy all this beautiful space has to offer. Samford Hall is an icon of Auburn University and is known as the central meeting place for family and friends.
If you’re a visitor in Auburn, it’s usually the first place to go and take a picture (other than Toomer’s, of course). There are multiple places to hammock and relax with friends. To the left of Samford Hall, there are many trees that are close together which is basically the hub for all group hammocking hangouts.
These are just a few of the places to try out as perfect weather rounds the corner of a new season. Maybe I’ll see you at these spots in the near future!
Be well, Auburn.
