Pack Up and Go: Last Minute Trip Planning

Schedules, itineraries, reservations, and bookings can become overwhelming very fast. Sometimes, the best plan for taking a vacation is no plan at all.

I recently took a trip to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, PA that was planned in just 3 days and it was absolutely incredible. Here are my tips for taking a spontaneous trip — and really enjoying it.

First Things First

Where do you want to go? The main thing you need to know when planning a trip is obvious: a destination! Start out by choosing a city you’re interested in and that has plenty for you to do!

Where To Sleep

Once you choose your destination, now it’s time to determine where you will stay. You can always look for hotels around the area, but if you’re searching for a different experience, Airbnb is a great option.

Transportation

How will you get where you’re going? If planning a last-minute trip, driving is the most realistic option. Begin searching for the best route with safe areas to stop if needed.

Make Every Second Count!

No, seriously that’s it. Determining where you’re going and staying is the hard part. Now, you can begin looking for fun things to do when you get there. The best part about limited planning is the freedom to enjoy the moment and not stress about a plan.

For some, last-minute or spontaneous trips can be stressful. If you’re wanting a new adventure, but don’t know where to start… Saying, “I’ll figure it out when I’m there” might be just the attitude you need.

I hope you have a great time on whatever trip you decide to take and don’t forget to take some photos and tag us @auburncampusrec. As usual,
