My Favorite Course I’ve Taken at Auburn So Far
I changed my major three times my freshman year.
I didn’t know what I wanted, and I didn’t really know what was out there. I was young and I loved Auburn, but I wasn’t focused on my future yet, and I was a teeny bit lost.
When I finally landed in public relations, I was excited but still didn’t feel like it fit me perfectly. I knew I loved to read, write, and talk to anyone who would listen to me. I decided to stick with the program and give it some time. I worked my way up into the major classes and started to realize that I had a certain skillset that the major required.
A lot changed for me when I started taking a class called Multimedia Writing for PR. The class was everything I loved about Auburn. It was a once-a-week class on Monday nights, but it ended up being my favorite class of the week. My professor was Mike Clardy, and he is the assistant vice president for the Office of Communications and Marketing here at Auburn. He works full-time for the university, but he teaches this class because he is passionate about students and the program. I finally got to start doing the type of work that I would be doing in the real world. We wrote press releases, media kits, and everything in between. We even did press experiments in class, and every class was like an open conversation.
That is what I love about Auburn. I found my place and found what I was good at through my education. The students love Auburn, and the faculty loves Auburn. So, when I say this, I mean it—
Be well, Auburn.
