What Your Favorite 2000s Show Says About You

Do you love watching TV shows made in the early 2000s? Whether you watch re-runs when you’re bored, or binge eight episodes at a time, you probably have a favorite out of these seven shows. Check out what each says about you!

1. Grey’s Anatomy

If you have watched Grey’s Anatomy (yes, all 17 and a half seasons), you are likely a very loyal friend. You don’t like cheesy television shows, and a little blood doesn’t bother you. And you probably have an emotional attachment to one or more of the characters and want to marry a doctor (or a vet) someday.

2. Gossip Girl

If your favorite 2000s show is Gossip Girl, you are likely a girl or have watched the show with a girl. You aspire to live in a big city and love all things high fashion. You may be an only child who went to a smaller high school. You also enjoy reading about celebrity drama and are keeping up to date with the Kardashians.

3. How I Met Your Mother

If you enjoy How I Met Your Mother, you’re an old soul. You love black coffee in the early mornings. It may also be one of the first shows you ever binge-watched. You probably have a close-knit friend group that feels like your family, and you hang out with them constantly. And if you googled who the mother was before the end of the show, you are probably not a fan of surprises and were secretly hoping it would be Robin.

4. Glee

If you’re a Glee fan, you are unique. Glee is not many people’s favorite, but those who love Glee, love Glee. As a “Gleek”, (someone who is obsessed with Glee) you were probably involved in a club in high school with friends in lots of different groups. You may have grown up in a suburb of a big city, and have always loved school.

5. The Office

If The Office is your favorite, we should be friends. If you have only seen some episodes, you probably have a cool dad or older brother. If you’ve watched all the episodes in order, you have a sarcastic, dry sense of humor. You probably grew up in a southern family and may have dressed up as Dwight for Halloween a couple of times. You also enjoy the little things in life and hope that your wedding party performs the viral “Forever” dance on your special day.

6. One Tree Hill

If you love One Tree Hill, you went to a larger high school and relate heavily to the events in the show. Although you may not have started the show as an avid basketball fan, you slowly began to appreciate the sport throughout the show (with characters like Lucas, how could you not?). You are likely a hopeless romantic in your own life and know that being different is cool.

7. Friends

Even though Friends started in the ’90s, it didn’t end until the 2000s. If your favorite is Friends, you’re probably down to earth. You compare each of the main characters in the show to people you know, and you’ve re-watched the series at least three times. You would do anything for your own friends, even if it’s pretending their English Trifle tastes good with jam, raspberries, custard, and ground beef.

I have a hard time choosing my favorite show out of these seven. From a sitcom to drama to comedy, each of these can keep you occupied for hours. Finding new series to watch is always fun, but the nostalgia of the 2000s will always have a place in my heart.

Be well, Auburn.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and raised in Roswell, Georgia, Avery is a senior studying Communications and minoring in Marketing. She chose Auburn because of its southern charm, but mainly because her big brother was here. Avery’s favorite place to be is at the lake, preferably wake surfing. If she isn’t there, she’s probably on the phone with her grandma, getting a McDonald’s Diet Coke, or watching reruns of The Office with her roommates. Her survival kit consists of chapstick and a color-coordinated calendar, and she doesn’t go a day without listening to country music. With the little amount of time she has left at Auburn, she hopes to learn many new things to take along with her on her journey of life.
