How I Made the Best Fall Playlist

When I was making my playlist for Fall, I immediately thought of things like back-to-school, nostalgia, and the coziest days curled up on the couch.

Several of the songs liked on my Spotify embody these traits, but putting them all together was one of the best ideas I’ve had in a while. I usually don’t make playlists; I just stick to whatever song or album I’m feeling at the moment, but having the songs in one place is quite convenient. Here are a couple of songs I’ve chosen for my fall playlist that I find myself going back to every year.

The first song in the playlist has been my one of my top songs on Spotify for two years running: Tomorrow by Shaky Graves. This song embodies a fall playlist from nostalgia, cozy memories, and everything in between. If it isn’t in your liked songs, I highly recommend giving it a listen.

Up next is We’re Going to Be Friends by The White Stripes. If this song doesn’t remind you of playing in the street with all the fall leaves as a kid—it should! This is a classic fall song that’s perfect for the start of school and all the fall vibes of the season.

Another song on this playlist is Dare You to Move by Switchfoot. I feel like I rediscover this song every couple of months and play it on repeat. It fits the classic early 2000s fall vibe to a tee. This one was great for the playlist and perfect for the season.

The final song I wanted to mention is a Caamp song called By and By. This is one of my favorite songs of all time and one I will always listen to no matter the time of year, but especially love it in the fall. The lyrics are what really play into the nostalgia factor, and remind me a lot about past years and memories. It’s a core camp song (pun intended) for all your campfires and fall festivities.

While everyone has their own taste in music and song associations, if you haven’t listened to any of these, I highly recommend you give them a chance. Some of my siblings and friends have the same taste in music, so I know this one will be a good one to share with them. Making playlists is also a fun way to see how my taste in music changes from year to year. Remember when you’re curating your own fall playlists, think of what you love, your audience, and get going!

Be well, Auburn.
