Auburn Football: A Different Perspective

For most students, an average football game day consists of picking out the perfect outfit, spending time at the tailgates with friends and family, and capturing the best Instagram pictures possible.

After attending my first football game in Jordan-Hare Stadium as a freshman, I immediately thought to myself “what do I have to do in order to get on the field?”

I reached out and followed through with every connection I could in order to get myself on the same playing field as our QB1. After a quick meeting with Auburn Football’s lead photographer at the time, Todd Van Emst, I was photographing the game that same week.

It rained the entire game day, and I will never forget him saying to me “If you can make it through this game, then I’m not worried.” He said if I stayed to shoot that Samford game, I could cover the Iron Bowl at home the following week. I decided to leave home and Thanksgiving break early to come back to Auburn for that game, and it was beyond worth it. We won the game, rushed the field, and I got to capture it all!

Flash forward about 3 years and countless crazy experiences later, I am back on the field with a new group of creatives and a new boss, while also surrounded by a new team and head coach. This year, I am taking more of a solo role. I am focusing on creating content for the Auburn Football Instagram on game days and some post-game content too.

At this point in working with the team, a lot of the guys recognize me and know where the content is going, so it makes the overall content experience better. The best advice I can give when creating content is to try to make the viewer experience “FOMO.” Make them wish they were there and missed out on the experience that you are selling.

As one would expect, our jobs are always easier when we are winning, but we cannot always rely on that. Our fans have the highest expectations for our team on and off the field, so we set the highest of expectations in the office as well. I am beyond grateful to be surrounded by the talented people that make up the athletic department staff, and I cannot wait for the rest of this season!

Be Well, Auburn!

After spending most of her time in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Grace decided it was time to leave the sunshine state for college. After touring Auburn and falling in love with the people, sports, and of course the Auburn family, she knew that Auburn was home.

After just three short months after her freshman year began, Grace figured out a way to get herself as close to the action as possible:— working for Auburn Athletics. This role led her to come to a decision to pursue a degree in Marketing, and a minor in Sports Communication. When she’s away from sports, she enjoys working out at The Rec just as much as she does working in the marketing department there.

Outside of work and school, you can find her trying to keep up with the latest TikTok trends, watching any and every sport on ESPN, and curating the perfect playlist for the month.
