Seattle City Guide
My favorite hobby, new places, and a visit with family? Count me in!
I headed to the Pacific Northwest (Seattle) to visit one of my brothers. I made sure to keep up with all the activities and document it all for this city guide. From food to outdoor activities and everything in-between, check out this blog for some new travel ideas.
Be A Tourist
On one of the days, I decided to be a complete and total tourist. A must visit place is the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum. This was especially cool to visit after seeing the chandelier by the same artist in the Jule Collins Smith Museum here in Auburn. Another day, I went to the classic Pike Place Market, also known as the Public Market to locals. This was a fun way to spend time by myself, really experience, and enjoy my time on vacation.
Trading Transportation
The best part of getting around the city is how accessible different forms of transportation are. My new favorite way to experience the city is on the electric bikes and scooters by Uber and Veo. These were so fun and affordable to do. Another fun way was taking the commuter buses to and from. If you’re ever in Seattle, experiment with getting around the city for fun adventures. If you’re an observer, this is also a great way to soak in the city and all the people around.
Foodie Fun
Of course, food is a highlight and new experience every time you travel. As for me, I go for breakfast places all day every day. The coolest thing about the areas surrounding Seattle was the tiny, little coffee shops along the highway as you drive out of the city and into the park areas. We were able to stop at one on our way to a hike for the best French toast bagel sandwich ever!
The Great Outdoors
In reality, this trip was to get outside and get going. I went to four different parks in the city and was able to take a day hike in the Cascades. Frisbee in Volunteer Park makes for a relaxing summer day, whereas a beach sunset at Golden Gardens is the best way to get some sun with friends. Another way to grab a glimpse of Seattle was the water trail from the arboretum that leads over Marsh Island. However, the highlight of this trip was going packrafting in an alpine lake, Blanca Lake. This was a surreal experience rafting out into a solid mist on vibrant, teal water and not being able to see where you were going. I was a little bias, but in my defense, it was much cooler than slipping down the mud hill entrance after hiking four miles up a mountain to get there.
Overall, this was a trip for a lifetime and Seattle is a great place for city and outdoors people alike. It’s a great place to spend time with loved ones and yourself through many activities and opportunities. If you’re ever in the city, find a place to take a hike, get some coffee, and...
Be well, Auburn.
