New Bites and Sites From Summer 2023
In a city like Auburn, keeping the attractions new and exciting is important.
In the past year, Auburn became the first and only SEC school with a Buc-ee’s! Auburn has also started construction on The Graduate Auburn Hotel and announced many new retail and food locations that will be opening soon. Here is what is known so far about the new establishments.
Staks
“So Flippin’ Good!” Staks is a new brunch restaurant with a wide selection of sweet and savory breakfast and lunch items. It recently opened shop downtown just a short walk from campus— right next to Taco Mama and Auburn Oil Co. Booksellers. It is open for breakfast and lunch crowds, so if you want to give it a try, make sure you set an alarm! Don’t worry, just because it’s called “Staks” doesn’t mean all that is served is pancakes. Serving avocado toast, a taco trio, or a variety of soups and salads, the possibilities are endless.
Jack Browns
This popular burger joint has opened its newest location in downtown Auburn, where the old Cheeburger Cheeburger was located. With a limited number of locations spread amongst the Southeast region, Jack Browns gained a lot of attention from the Auburn community after it was announced they would bring their unique burgers here. One of the burgers I am interested in trying is the “Greg Brady” which has mac n’ cheese and potato chips added to it.
Target
Over the last year, Target has been built from the ground up in the limited free space downtown. The excitement was contagious waiting for the store to open. Another location is already open in Opelika’s Tiger Town, but with the new building’s proximity to campus, it proves to be way more convenient. Since it is considered smaller than a normal Target, grocery items and other accessories are limited.
Coming Soon: Lululemon
Living in a southern college town would not be complete without a Lululemon nearby and soon that will come to fruition. Recently, it has been announced that Lululemon will be opening in Auburn underneath The Standard apartment complex. The retail store is home to all kinds of men’s and women’s athletic clothing and accessories, with a logo that is recognizable almost anywhere.
I personally can’t wait for the future of Auburn. All Auburn needs now is Trader Joe’s!
Be well, Auburn!
Born and raised in Alabaster, AL, Jackson is a sophomore majoring in Marketing. She chose Auburn on a whim, but she has found it to be the best decision she has ever made. From long nights studying with friends to the memories made camping out for basketball games, she has created a home for herself, at Auburn.
You will probably find her somewhere on campus or getting involved in any and everything she can. When she is not doing schoolwork, she’s on a Hot Girl walk, rewatching Glee for the 100th time, or grabbing a bite to eat at Chick-fil-A. Jackson is also the biggest Swiftie, so she spends a lot of time driving with her friends blasting Taylor Swift’s entire discography.
