"Freeze" Warning in Auburn
Auburn is known for many things: the Auburn family, Toomer’s lemonade, and, of course, football.
Last season, however, was a disappointment for fans as Auburn finished the season 5-7 under second-year head coach Bryan Harsin, who was fired midway through the season.
After back-to-back losing seasons, Auburn fans have new hope following the hire of Hugh Freeze as head coach. Freeze, who has previously coached at Ole Miss and Liberty, was hired by Auburn on November 28, 2022. Coach Freeze has been hard at work in the transfer portal, picking up 21 transfers and acquiring one of the best transfer classes in the nation for the 2023 season.
Freeze will have no easy task as Auburn once again faces one of the most difficult schedules in the country, ranked as the fifth toughest by ESPN. The Tigers will travel to LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt, as well as a non-conference game at California. At home, Auburn will face Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Georgia, and Alabama in addition to non-conference games against UMASS, Samford, and New Mexico State.
Despite a difficult schedule, fans are hopeful that Freeze can turn things around at Auburn. One thing is for sure: there will be plenty of excitement surrounding this year’s football season.
Enjoy the games and…
Be well, Auburn.
