2024 Football Season Predictions
Football season is almost upon us!
Get ready for another year of gamedays cheering on the Tigers. Below are my game-by-game predictions for this year. While I of course would love for Auburn to win every game and finish 12-0, I tried to keep them realistic. But rest assured, I will be cheering for Auburn harder than anyone in Jordan-Hare this season!
vS. Alabama A&M
The season opener should be an easy win for the Tigers, who have never lost to an FCS team before. I expect Auburn to put up a lot of points en route to a large victory over Alabama A&M.
My prediction: Auburn 52, Alabama A&M 7
vS. California
Auburn struggled against California last year, escaping Berkeley with a 14-10 victory. Auburn brings in a lot of new talent this year, though, and with the game at Jordan-Hare, I think Auburn will win by at least two scores.
My prediction: Auburn 33, California 17
vS. New Mexico
Thankfully this is New Mexico and not New Mexico State…Hopefully, things will fare better for Auburn against the other New Mexico school, who finished 4-8 last season. Assuming they don’t have another game like they did against New Mexico State last year, this should be an easy win for the Tigers.
My prediction: Auburn 42, New Mexico 16
vS. Arkansas
Auburn has won 7 of the last 8 matchups against Arkansas, and I expect it to be 8 of 9 after this year. Arkansas comes off a struggling 4-8 season and won’t be able to compete in the atmosphere of Jordan-Hare Stadium. I think that Auburn gets another big win to improve to 4-0 on the season.
My prediction: Auburn 51, Arkansas 17
vS. Oklahoma
This is where things will start to get tough for this Auburn squad. This will be Oklahoma’s first road matchup as a member of the SEC, and Jordan-Hare is no easy place to play. The environment in Jordan-Hare is sure to be electric, especially if the game is at night. Oklahoma is a tough opponent, though, and I think Auburn falls just short of an upset over a top-15 Oklahoma team.
My prediction: Oklahoma 34, Auburn 27
at Georgia
Auburn has struggled against Georgia in recent years, especially on the road. The Tigers haven’t won in Athens since 2005… almost twenty years. As much as I would love for Auburn to break the streak with an upset victory, I think Georgia is just too good. While Auburn may keep it close for a quarter or two, I expect Georgia to pull away quickly.
My prediction: Georgia 42, Auburn 13
at Missouri
Missouri had an amazing season last year, finishing 11-2 and ranked inside the top 10. This will be no easy game for Auburn, especially on the road, but I believe they will get the job done and escape from Columbia with a victory.
My prediction: Auburn 27, Missouri 24
at Kentucky
Auburn finishes their tough road stretch against Kentucky, who has been a solid competitor in the SEC over the last few years. This will be their first meeting since the 2020 season when Auburn emerged with a 29-13 victory. Auburn seems to struggle on the road, though, and I think they fall just short of Kentucky to drop to 5-3 on the year.
My prediction: Kentucky 26, Auburn 20
vS. Vanderbilt
Auburn returns to Jordan-Hare to face Vanderbilt, who has consistently been one of the worst teams in the SEC. Vandy will have a tough time stopping the high-powered Auburn offense, who I think will jump out to a quick lead over the Commodores.
My prediction: Auburn 48, Vanderbilt 13
vS. ULM
Auburn needs to be careful not to overlook ULM with big games against Texas A&M and Alabama coming up. If the Tigers can remain focused, this should be a blowout win against a team that only won two games last year.
My prediction: Auburn 62, ULM 7
vS. Texas A&M
This is one of Auburn’s biggest toss-up games of the season, especially with Texas A&M bringing in a new coach. Last year, the Aggies shut down the Auburn offense in College Station. But with the addition of key playmakers like Cam Coleman, who flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to Auburn, I think this Auburn team has what it takes to come out on top.
My prediction: Auburn 29, Texas A&M 22
at Alabama
Last up on the schedule: the Iron Bowl. We all remember the devastating heartbreak of last year’s Iron Bowl, and the players most of all. They will be hungry for a win, and with Nick Saban no longer at the helm, I think Auburn has a shot to get revenge over the team from up north. While it won’t be easy on the road, anything can happen in the Iron Bowl… give me Auburn.
My prediction: Auburn 37, Alabama 35
Overall prediction: 9-3 (5-3 SEC)
After three straight years of losing seasons, I would be ecstatic to see a nine-win Auburn team. While it won’t be easy, Hugh Freeze comes in with a year of experience under his belt and a very talented roster that can pull it off.
War Eagle, and…
Be well, Auburn!
Josh was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Growing up an avid Auburn fan, he always knew he wanted to call Auburn home.
He is currently majoring in graphic design and hopes to combine his degree with his love of sports after graduating.
In his free time, you can find Josh out for a run, on the pickleball courts, or going for a drive with friends. No matter what he’s doing, it’s a pretty safe bet you can find him listening to Taylor Swift while doing it.
