National Reading Month

Happy National Reading Month!
The month of March is designated as national reading month to encourage people across America to read! Reading is a great way to pass time while improving vocabulary, memory, attention span, and more. Here are some book recommendations and where to find them in Auburn to kickstart your reading adventures!
For the lover of classics
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is my favorite classic and may just be my favorite book in general. It tells the story of a young girl’s life in Brooklyn, and the struggles of growing up without the luxury of a stable family. This is a great classic for people (like me) who don’t enjoy the headache of trying to decipher old English. Stop by Well Red to pick it up!
Well Red
This delicious coffee shop doubles as a bookstore and is such a fun spot to explore new reads! They offer multiple book clubs and are hosting a 2025 reading challenge with prizes upon completion. Check out this link for more info: Reading Challenge 2025 — Well Red AU
For The Lover of Thrills
The Push features a chilling story of a mother and daughter and their complex relationship that leaves the mother doubting everything she once knew. If you want to be on the edge of your seat, this book is for you!
Auburn Oil and Co. Booksellers
If you’re feeling indecisive, pop into Auburn Oil and Co. and let them pick a book for you! Their “blind date” section has wrapped books with short descriptions of their theme/mood. This is a fun way to find a book you love that you may not have noticed at first.
For the Historical Fiction Lover
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a fictional story that follows the lives of two women in Afghanistan. This book includes heavy content and heartbreaking stories that will leave you grateful for the simple freedoms we easily forget. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical dramas; it is truly a fantastic read front to back!
Happy reading and Be Well, Auburn.

Crystal is a junior majoring in marketing and double minoring in Italian and sales. She spent her freshman year of college at Baylor University (Sic ‘em) before transferring to Auburn where she found her home!
Born and raised in Montana, Crystal’s passion for the outdoors started at a young age. You can often find her hiking, floating in the river, or just sitting in the sun. When she’s not out enjoying nature, Crystal loves to read, travel anywhere new, listen to the oldies, and spend quality time with family and friends. After graduation, she aspires to travel as much as possible, pursue a career in real estate or social media marketing, and eventually find her way back to the Rockies.
