Tailgating Meets Trick-or-Treating

Tailgating Meets Trick-or-Treating

Do you feel like Halloween isn’t the same as it used to be?

Well, attend a Trunk-or-Treat! It is a trick-or-treating event that takes place in a parking lot where you decorate your vehicle and give out candy! Auburn has multiple opportunities for this, especially at local schools.

Last year, I attended a local Trunk-or-Treat event for volunteer hours, and it was so fun! Here are some ways you can bring back the Halloween spirit with Trunk-or-Treat!

Get Ready to Roll

Take inspiration from Auburn tradition and decorate your car with any and everything Auburn! As an ode to rolling Toomers, you can drape your car in toilet paper and disguise it as a mummy. You can also do a tailgate theme and make the trunk the “end zone” by decorating it with footballs, game-day shakers, and pennant flags. Match your costume with your theme by dressing as a referee or wearing an Auburn jersey. You can easily find Auburn gear that will help you complete the look!

Candy Meets Cruising

Coming up with a costume and car theme is easy and fun! One idea could be an ocean theme; a water background decorated with balloons, streamers, and anything blue to make it resemble the ocean. You could give away bubbles, lifesavers, and Swedish fish to stick to the theme! Costumes could be anything from sharks, lifeguards, fishermen, mermaids, or pirates! This is just one example of a costume and car theme, but there are many more ways to be creative. Take inspiration from your favorite movies, books, and celebrities to come up with a fun theme.

Haunted House? Haunted Car!

A classic haunted house theme for Halloween never fails. Plastic tablecloths are great for covering the bottom of the trunk. You can also hang fake spiderwebs and streamers from the tailgate and play spooky music from your car to take it to the next level. Last year, Dollar General had so many cheap decoration options. You can also check out Walmart’s seasonal decoration aisle.

Tips and Tricks for a Boo-tiful Trunk

Decorating your vehicle and participating in Trunk-or-Treat is an excellent way to bring back the Halloween spirit we miss from our childhood. It is a way to be creative, reminisce on your favorite memories, and show off your fun ideas.

Happy Halloween and…
