5 Steps to Planning The Perfect Friendsgiving
We all know about the classic Thanksgiving traditions, but have you heard of Friendsgiving?
Friendsgiving is a new tradition where Friend groups gather for a Thanksgiving-style meal. With these five easy steps, you and your friends are sure to enjoy a perfect Friendsgiving!
Your House or Mine?
The first topic to discuss when planning Friendsgiving is the location. This needs to be the best meeting point for everyone invited. Make sure you have a large table and chairs to accommodate for everyone invited. The more the merrier!
What’s On the Menu
The most important part of Friendsgiving is the food. It is important to make sure that you are delegating a course of the meal to everyone. One of the most efficient ways to do this is to set up a SignUpGenius or Google Doc form that lists all of the food that is needed. Let everyone contribute to the meal in some way. Those with less cooking experience can bring simpler sides or kitchenware. Those with a little more skill in the cooking world can make key entrees traditionally found on Thanksgiving menus.
The Table is Set
Decorations help to get everyone in the fall spirit while you are sitting around the table. They also make the table cute for photos of the food or with friends! A few quick and easy decorations include Thanksgiving-themed napkins, tablecloths, and centerpieces. Incorporating fall colors such as orange and brown can help make your table more festive.
Setting The Vibe
Creating a fall-themed ambiance can also help create the perfect Friendsgiving. Having music playing quietly is an easy way to take your Friendsgiving party to the next level. For example, if you look up “Thanksgiving Playlist” on Spotify you will get several well-curated playlist options. Another effective method to get guests in the Thanksgiving mood is to light a fall-scented candle. Anything with pumpkin, apple cider, or cinnamon can be great for making your space feel more inviting.
Have Some Fun
Lastly, no dinner party is complete without some sort of game. The classic Thanksgiving activity is for everyone to say something that they are thankful for. You can also put a Thanksgiving twist on classic games. For example, Thanksgiving-themed charades, Heads-Up, and Pictionary can be a creative way to keep your games on theme. However, your game does not have to be Thanksgiving-themed! The point of playing games together is to spend quality time with your friends, which is the point of Friendsgiving. Playing board games can be an easy way to keep the fun going after the meal is served. You can also watch a Thanksgiving or fall movie together. All of these activities offer a fun way to spend quality time with your friends and extend your Friendsgiving beyond your shared meal.
Remember that Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for those around you, so take some time to set up a Friendsgiving and spend time with the friends you love most!
Happy Friendsgiving & Thanksgiving!
