Acts of Service for the Holidays

As college students, balancing school, work, and other commitments can make it challenging to find time to give back to the community.

To make it easier, I've put together a quick list of simple, impactful ways to give back to the Auburn community this holiday season!

Auburn’s Toy Drive

This is a great way to give back to local families this holiday season! On December 14, 2024, you can donate unwrapped toys for children ages 2-14 at the Dean Road Recreation Center. This drive helps families in need by providing Christmas gifts for their kids. If you're feeling extra festive, you can also volunteer to help sort these gifts.

Donation Event Details:

Date: Dec. 14, 2024
Time: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Dean Road Recreation Center

Be a Santa to a Senior

During the holiday season, giving back isn’t just about supporting children and families, it’s also about remembering seniors who may feel isolated or overlooked. To lend a hand, check out one of three Auburn locations with holiday trees decorated with ornaments. Each ornament has a senior's first name and a gift suggestion. Just pick one, shop for the gift, and return it unwrapped to the same spot!

Donation Event Locations:

643 North Dean Road, Auburn, AL 36830
1001 Andrews Road, Opelika, AL 36801
1515 2nd Avenue, Opelika, AL 36801

Auburn Parks and Recreation

Auburn is bringing back a popular gift-wrapping service this holiday season. Drop off up to 20 pre-boxed gifts at the Harris Center at 425 Perry Street, and you can pick them up all wrapped up the same day. Choose from their wrapping paper selection or bring your own!

Wrap-Up Dates:

Dec. 14: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Dec. 15: 1 – 5 p.m.
Dec. 16 - 20: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

From donating toys and gifts to seniors to taking advantage of the free gift-wrapping service, every little bit helps make a difference. Let’s come together and help everyone feel the warmth of the holidays. Get involved, donate, or volunteer to spread some cheer this season!

Be Well, Auburn.

Caroline is a junior marketing major, originally from Johns Creek, Georgia. Even though she is not too far from home, she feels equally at home and loved in Auburn.

Outside of class and work, you can find Caroline working out, trying new recipes with her roomies, walking with friends, or attending any Auburn sports event going on! She also loves Chipotle, and you can catch her listening to a different genre of music every day.

After graduating, Caroline hopes to work in either social media marketing or sports marketing.
