Volleyball Season is Halfway Over. How Are We Doing?
Auburn Volleyball started the season off strong, beginning with a 6-0 record and winning both the War Eagle Invitational and the Plainsmen Invitational, highlighted by a significant victory over at the time #15 Florida State. Auburn dropped after their first game of the year to #19 Minnesota on the road at Maturi Pavilion. They finished non-conference play with a stellar 4-0 record, bringing their overall record to 10-1.
In SEC play, Auburn started with a 4-1 record, including a massive win over #12 Kentucky in Neville Arena, where they dropped the first two sets, but rallied to win the next three. This was a huge victory for the Tigers to open SEC play, featuring a ranked win and a standout performance by Auburn's right-side Bella Bell against her former team.
The Iron Bowl took place on September 29th in Neville Arena, where Auburn fans set a record attendance of 3,082 to support their team as they defeated Alabama 3-1 in their second conference game. Lakin Laurendine posted career highs with 12 kills and 10 digs, achieving her first career double-double.
However, Auburn has since suffered back-to-back losses against Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Tennessee in Knoxville. In the match against Alabama, the contest went to five sets, with Auburn winning sets 2 and 3, but losing a heartbreaking 4th set by 26-24. Bella Bell posted a career-high with 22 kills, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory over Alabama. The Tigers also fell to the Tennessee Volunteers 1-3, managing to win only the third set to avoid a sweep. Head Coach Brent Crouch, in his fifth season, is determined to help Auburn overcome these challenges and win when it matters most.
Auburn’s last home games are November 15th against Texas and November 20th versus Florida. Senior night will be against Florida as Auburn looks to celebrate the seniors for being the first Auburn team to ever go to back-to-back NCAA tournaments. Texas is currently top of the SEC in standings leaving these last two home games a massive momentum swing heading into tournament play. Auburn aims for its third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, although they have yet to advance beyond the second round in the previous two years. The SEC conference tournament will begin on December 5.

Andrew was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but spent most of his childhood growing up in Spanish Fort, Alabama. For most of his life, he was a huge Georgia fan until coming to Auburn. It didn’t take long for Andrew to fall in love with the campus and become a lifelong Auburn fan.
Andrew is a Sophomore studying accounting at the Harbert College of Business. He hopes to get his masters in accounting and a minor in finance. Outside of class, he likes to play basketball, spend time with his friends, and cheer on his favorite sports teams.
After Auburn, Andrew hopes to pursue accounting with a firm and eventually have season tickets with the Atlanta Braves or with Auburn football.
