Yoga Is For Guys Too
“Yoga is for girls.” “Guys get in their calisthenic exercise in other ways.” This is what I had always thought.
This past summer, I was eager to get back to my workout routine when I returned to The Rec. However, I quickly realized that I had no motivation. I felt sluggish and found it hard to make time for working out. I knew it was time for a change, so I began to consider the idea of yoga.
Yoga offered me a more relaxing workout that would help me start my day in a positive way. It also offered me new challenges that I had never faced in previous workout types. This was great since I had been struggling with motivation to complete my usual workouts. I started doing yoga with my girlfriend, but I couldn’t keep up with her pace as I was still learning the poses. I decided that I wanted to continue doing yoga on my own, so I started looking for more beginner guides.
I found a YouTuber who makes yoga videos not only for beginners but for guys too. Through humor, walkthroughs, and easy explanation, he helps to break the stigma of yoga only being for women. I have thoroughly enjoyed following along with his videos and learning from them.
Since I started doing yoga, I feel healthier, and I am excited to wake up and workout. I feel much more flexible and know that I’m making progress each time I do a yoga session. For me, taking on yoga was one of the most beneficial ways to get out of my workout rut. It helps me start each day fresh, and I don’t feel nearly as sluggish as I did before.
I truly think that yoga can be for everyone. It is a great way to get active, challenge, and improve yourself. It may not be as easy as it looks, but in my opinion, it’s worth it.
