Staying Motivated Over Winter Break
After the fall semester is over, everyone wants to go home and take a break from school.
However, laying in bed doom-scrolling is not doing anything to help you embrace the holidays and get ready for the new year. To help you stay motivated while on break, here are some helpful tips to help you stay active and get organized.
Stay Warm
One of the hardest parts of working out in the winter is the cold weather. Getting creative with your exercise can help you stay active even when you don’t feel like braving the outdoors. For example, sauna workouts could be something fun to try! Hotworx is an example of an indoor sauna workout that uses infrared heat for added benefits. They offer a wide range of classes from pilates to cycling. This heated workout will have you forgetting all about the chilly weather outside.
Dress For The Weather
While some people enjoy working out indoors, a lot of us need to get outside no matter what the weather is! Whether you are walking your dog, going on a run, or going on a bike ride, it is important to dress appropriately for the weather. For example, wearing a short-sleeved base layer with several long-sleeve layers and a zip-up can allow you to shed layers as needed. Also, treating yourself to new winter workout gear can encourage you to go out so that you can wear them! Keeping hand warmers in your pockets is also a great way to make yourself more comfortable while working out outside.
Sticking To A Schedule
One of my favorite things to do to reset for a new year is to get a new calendar or planner. While a lot of school assignments are tracked through Canvas, there are so many things that I do every month that are not. Keeping a physical planner helps me stay on top of what I need to do in every aspect of my life. There are so many planners to pick from as well, each with different layouts and sizes depending on your preference. Some even have stickers!
I hope these tips will help you to stay motivated during winter break. Be sure to get some much-needed rest and enjoy your time off, but stay motivated for the new year!
