Navigating Healthy Living: A College-Style Grocery Guide

Grocery shopping in college isn’t as easy as it sounds—especially when you’re trying to eat healthy on a budget. I’ve learned it’s all about balance.

I try to stick to fresh, healthy options without overcomplicating things, and I’ve found some staples that work for me.

First, fresh fruits and veggies are key. Spinach is one of my go-to superfoods because you can use it in salads, smoothies, or cooked meals. Sweet potatoes are a must-have in my cart since they’re affordable, filling, and perfect for meal-prepping lunches and dinners.  I also always make sure to grab some berries and Greek yogurt for quick breakfasts or snacks.

One thing I treat myself to every week is an immunity shot. They’re loaded with ginger, turmeric, and lemon, so, while they might not taste amazing, they’re packed with nutrients that are really good for you. Even during my busiest weeks, they’ve helped me feel my best, making them a small splurge that’s totally worth it.

At the end of the day, grocery shopping is all about finding what works for you. Keep it simple, stick to the fresh stuff, and don’t stress if the occasional snack sneaks into your cart—it’s all about balance!

Be Well, Auburn.

Caroline is a junior marketing major, originally from Johns Creek, Georgia. Even though she is not too far from home, she feels equally at home and loved in Auburn.

Outside of class and work, you can find Caroline working out, trying new recipes with her roomies, walking with friends, or attending any Auburn sports event going on! She also loves Chipotle, and you can catch her listening to a different genre of music every day.

After graduating, Caroline hopes to work in either social media marketing or sports marketing.
